5 Days Marangu Route
Known as the “Coca-Cola Route,” the Marangu Route is the most established and comfortable path to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. It's the only route with hut accommodations, making it a popular choice for those seeking a less rugged trekking experience. The trail offers gentle slopes through lush rainforest, moorland, and alpine desert before reaching the icy summit of Uhuru Peak. It's ideal for beginner trekkers or those looking for a more straightforward ascent.

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you'll be transferred to your accommodation, where your guide will conduct a full briefing and equipment check to prepare you for the adventure ahead.

Ameg Lodge

Kaliwa Lodge

Elevation: 1,860m → 2,700m
Your trek begins with a drive from Moshi to Marangu Gate. After registration, you'll enter the lush rainforest and start your hike along a well-maintained trail. The path is often damp and shaded, with moss-covered trees, chirping birds, and playful monkeys along the way.
You'll reach Mandara Hut in the late afternoon. If time and energy allow, take a short walk to Maundi Crater for stunning views of Kenya and Northern Tanzania.
Mandara Hut · Overnight Stay

Elevation: 2,700m → 3,720m
Leaving the rainforest behind, you'll enter the moorland zone, where the landscape changes dramatically. The trail climbs steadily through open terrain filled with giant groundsels and lobelias.
Along the way, you'll catch your first full view of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. Horombo Hut awaits with breathtaking vistas and a chance to meet other trekkers.
Horombo Hut · Overnight Stay

Elevation: 3,720m → 4,703m
Today's route is long and dry, crossing the alpine desert. You'll walk through the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks, a wide, barren landscape with dramatic views. The air is thinner, so walk slowly and stay hydrated.
You'll reach Kibo Hut by mid-afternoon—rest early and get ready for the summit attempt that begins at midnight.
Kibo Hut · Overnight Stay

Elevation: 4,703m → 5,895m (Uhuru Peak) → 3,720m
Your summit journey begins in the early hours, hiking in the dark across switchbacks and scree to Gilman's Point (5,685m), then along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak—the roof of Africa.
After capturing your summit moment, descend back to Kibo Hut for a short rest, then continue to Horombo Hut for a well-earned night's sleep.
Horombo Hut · Overnight Stay

Elevation: 3,720m → 1,860m
On your final day, descend through the moorland and lush rainforest to return to the starting point. The trail is easier going down, but watch your step on the wet sections.
At the gate, you'll receive your summit certificate before heading back to Moshi—tired but proud.
